Houseplant of the month February

Who deserves the Houseplant of the Month? Plants are great to own, a delight to receive and even more fun to give. That's why we're giving away a plant every month to someone with a deservingly good story, but only when they are nominated. So who do you know that deserves a lovely plant?

Every month the Houseplant of the Month appears here. It may be a newcomer to the UK, an old favourite or a special plant with unexpected qualities. But they all have one thing in common: they make life just that bit more beautiful. And especially if you are one of the lucky winners.

Houseplant of the Month for February: the Lily

The Lily, also known as the Lilium, is not a plant for the meek. She has a strong presence and needs to be kept under control, otherwise she’ll dominate your home. Are you strong enough? Then the Lily will ensure that you will be very happy together.

Roman Brides
The Lily has a powerful aura of purity and virginity. It is not for nothing that the ancient Greeks and Romans adorned their brides with crowns of Lilies. Few flowers have so many symbolic meanings: love, femininity, mortality and purity, to name a few. Lilies will be familiar to most for their white flowers, but they are also available in red, orange and pastel tints. In short: with Lilies the options are endless.
